Service Description
For those serious about pottery, this six-lesson package offers a deep dive into wheel throwing. You’ll master the process from start to finish, experiment with various forms, and create a collection of refined pieces. Day One: Introduction to Wheel Throwing Techniques Get acquainted with the pottery wheel and basic centering techniques. You will create your first simple pieces, such as cylinders and small bowls, while focusing on posture and hand placement. Day Two: Advanced Shaping and Forming Build upon your foundational skills by exploring various shapes like mugs and plates. Learn how to manipulate the clay to create both functional and decorative items while practicing your throwing technique. Day Three: Trimming and Refined Finishing Discover the art of trimming your thrown pieces to enhance their form and function. Focus on refining your technique and creating clean edges, along with adding decorative elements to your work. Day Four: Exploring Glazing Techniques Dive into the glazing process! You will learn about different types of glazes, their effects, and how to apply them effectively. Prepare your pieces for glazing and explore various decoration techniques. Day Five: Advanced Throwing Techniques Challenge yourself with more complex forms, such as larger bowls and multi-part pieces. Receive personalized guidance to help you refine your skills and explore your creative style. Day Six: Final Touches and Preparation for Firing Complete your pieces with final touches, preparing them for firing. Review all the skills learned throughout the course, and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing your creations ready for the kiln. To make the most of your experience, please: Trim your nails: Short nails are ideal for working with clay. Wear comfortable clothing: Choose clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Aprons are available in the studio. Tie back long hair: This ensures it doesn’t get in the way while working. Bring a relaxed energy: Pottery is all about finding a calm mindset in order to enjoy the process and experimenting! Duration: 2.5 hours Includes: Create 1–2 pieces, coffee, tea, and all equipment provided. Languages: Italian and English. Your pieces will be decorated with Fluuido's glazes and will typically be ready for pick-up 3-4 weeks after the end of the course.
